Day two of the Cazoo sponsored St Leger Festival on Doncaster's Town Moor racecourse, where the talk of the day was the return of long absentee Adayar. The imposing son of Frankel was undoubtedly the biggest name of the day as he is the 2021 Epsom Derby and King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner. Not seen since finishing fifth in the Champion Stakes at Ascot last October, slight issues and ground conditions kept him away until this conditions race over a mile and two furlongs was deemed a suitable starting point before going onto bigger targets. The race was a small turnout with just Masekela and stablemate Dhahabi, the half-brother to Golden Horn, in the line up. The race never looked in any doubt for Adayar who sauntered home without coming off the bridle for an effortless victory to take home the prize.
Elsewhere on the card, it was a view to the future with the feature race being the Group Two May Hill Stakes for fillies over a mile. The unbeaten Mark Johnston trained Dance In The Grass was well favoured in a field of nice prospects for the future. The race would see a huge shock as the 40-1 outsider Polly Pott, a three time winner at a much lower level, finished best of all under Dan Tudhope to win for trainer Harry Dunlop. It was an emotional victory for the Newmarket trainer who recently stated his intent to retire at the end of the season. The second Group Two event was the Park Hill Stakes over the St Leger distance of a mile and six furlongs where the Champion Fillies and Mares Stakes winner Eshaada was looking to make a return to the winners' enclosure. She had to settle for second best as the unflappable duo of Frankie Dettori and John Gosden teamed up once again with Mimikyu in the colours of owner George Strawbridge. A repeat of last year's winning combination with Free Wind, Mimikyu brushed aside a poor effort at York last time out to win the valuable event. 
Elsewhere on the card, the valuable Weatherbys' £300,000 2-Y-O Stakes saw a field of runners who, as yearlings, passed through the sales ring at the Goffs auction house just a stone's throw away from the starting stalls and despite being pushed all the way by Alpha Capture, it was Cold Case who landed the spoils in a great finish, following on from his third in the Group Two Gimcrack Stakes. The opening Carrie Red Fillies' Nursery Handicap saw an impressive performance by Bonny Angel, who put on the afterburners to scorch home by four lengths. A step up in grade will be imminent for the Clive Cox filly. The seven furlong handicap saw the first leg of a Godolphin double as New Kingdom landed the spoils. Making all the running, the son of Dubawi bravely held off all challengers to win for the first time this season.
